When someone you love has cancer…

When someone you love or care for is diagnosed with breast or a gynaecological cancer, it can be a very difficult and unsettling time. Counterpart provides information and support to partners, carers, family members, friends and colleagues through the Resource Centre and by linking them into other community services.

The Counterpart volunteers, having experienced cancer themselves can sit with friends and family, listen to their concerns, share their experiences and offer practical and emotional support. Partners, family and friends are encouraged to visit the Resource Centre and access many of the books, DVDs and CDs that are available and deal with issues related to the support and care of a loved one or friend in need.

On occasion, Counterpart runs information sessions for partners and carers of women living with breast or a gynaecological cancer. These sessions are a great opportunity to meet others in a similar situation and discuss and share practical ways of support and dealing with cancer. If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please get in touch.
