This event has past.

Location:  Webinar only

**webinar only**

Bone loss is associated with various cancer treatments, particularly hormonal therapy. Loss of bone mineral density increases the risk of fractures and can have a serious effect on quality of life. In this session we will look at how cancer treatment impacts on bone health, and what treatment options, both medicinal and lifestyle, are available to prevent or reduce bone loss.

This session will be of particular interest to those women whose breast cancer is hormone receptor positive and who have had or are currently taking hormone therapies, or for premenopausal women who've had chemotherapy and / or their ovaries removed.

Our presenter, Dr Ie-Wen Sim is an endocrinologist who has a special interest in bone disorders such as osteoporosis. He currently holds public appointments at Monash Health, Eastern Health and Western Health, as well as being a consultant endocrinologist and andrologist at Monash IVF. He lectures at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Ie-Wen has been an invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings, as well as on radio and television.
