Music therapy: singing for wellbeing

Date: Monday, 28/08/2023

Time: 1:00PM–2:15PM

Location: Online workshop

Address: N/A

All our events are free. If an online event fills up, priority will be given to Victorian women.

Audience:

  • Women with cancer
  • Family, carers, friends of women with cancer

This workshop will introduce some supportive singing exercises including humming and melodic mantras. These exercises are based on the increasing amount of evidence for the benefits of singing for supporting mood and pain. You will be encouraged to try out the exercises in a safe non-judgemental environment, with a focus on how it FEELS rather than how it SOUNDS.

No experience or ‘talent’ required, and no-one will hear you online on mute!

Kate McMahon is a Registered Music Therapist and a PhD candidate. She is a gentle and creative practitioner, dedicated to helping people find joy, ease and strength during difficult times. In her work, Kate encourages and supports you to embody safety and agency, within the session and in your daily life.
