Warrnambool wellbeing day for women with cancer

Audience: Any woman who has had (recently or in the past) a cancer diagnosis. Family/ partners/ support people of women with a cancer diagnosis are also welcome to attend.

You are welcome to attend for all or part of the day.

Program for the day:

10am            Registration and welcome. Introduction to Counterpart and other services

10.30am–11.20am         Art therapy – a guided drawing experience

11.20am – 11.30am        Morning tea

11.30am – 12.30pm       Managing sexuality & intimacy with cancer session

12.30pm–1.15pm           Lunch

1.15pm–2.30pm            Restorative Yoga – a chair-based session

2.30pm – 2.40pm         Feedback and close

Counterpart will be there with a staff member and volunteer(s) as well as a member of PanSupport (Pancare)
There will be information and brochures from different cancer organisations and South C dragon boats – your local team.

Organised in partnership with staff of South West Healthcare, Barwon South Western Regional Integrated Cancer Services (BSWRICS) and the Warrnambool Icon Cancer Centre, together with a community member.

Art therapy – Natalie Stevens:

Introducing Natalie Stevens, a talented and compassionate local artist who will take you on a guided drawing experience like no other.  Let Natalie be your guiding light as you embark on a creative and healing journey. With her gentle and empathic approach, Natalie creates a safe and supportive space for you to explore your artistic abilities, regardless of your previous experience.

 

Passionfruit logoManaging sexuality and intimacy with cancer – Tori Bellentina:

Tori is a qualified sexologist (Curtin University) who has worked with Passionfruit for over 8 years.

With a background in teaching, Tori specialises in areas concerning sexual health, like skin sensitivity issues in relation to lubricant, condoms, menopause, vaginismus, vulvodynia, erectile dysfunction and post prostatectomy rehabilitation.

She has delivered specialist presentations on lubricant, dilators and post-prostatectomy rehabilitation to medical professionals at Ovarian Cancer Australia (OCA) and the Asia-Pacific Prostate Cancer Conference (APCC) and aims to further support others in their sexual growth.

Managing sexuality and intimacy with cancer – Eliza Bailey:

Eliza is a qualified sexologist and a Clinical Nurse Specialist, in the Radiotherapy Department at Peter Mac. She has presented on sexuality and intimacy as part of cancer care at many professional conferences and events and has participated in other aspects of clinical oncology research.

Restorative yoga – Peta Jolley:

Peta Jolley has been integrating yoga into her life since the early 70s, and as an adult now, doesn’t know where she would be without it!

Yoga is like opening the door to a long-forgotten run-down house to discover an eternal palace!

In partnership with her Wife, Dionne, their gym Movement 365 also houses her yoga studio Great Ocean Healing Centre, where they offer a range of services that can support and enhance your health and well-being.
