This book is written by J Richard Smith, a consultant gynaecological surgeon specialising in women's cancers. The first four chapters are relevant for women diagnosed with any type of cancer. These are followed by chapters specifically dealing with cervical, ovarian, uterine, vulval, breast and placental cancers. Includes information on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, complementary therapies, spiritual approaches and pain management. Smith notes that the chapter on bereavement is not just for women with an advanced diagnosis, as it also relates to coming to terms with diagnosis and treatment. He uses a "4 cusp" approach to explain the individual stages of a cancer experience.
