Learning objectives Day 1

At the completion of Day 1, participants will:

  • Have developed an understanding of the range of cancers, other than breast and gynaecological cancers, experienced by women
  • Appreciate similarities and differences between these tumours and breast and gynaecological cancers
  • Have an awareness of the lived experience of women with other cancers
  • Appreciate different surgical and medical oncology treatment approaches for different tumours and their impacts on women who have these treatments.

Learning objectives Day 2

At the completion of Day 2, participant will :

  • Have developed an understanding of radiotherapy and its role treating women with other cancers and impact on them
  • Have developed an understanding of radiotherapy and its role treating women with other cancers and impact on them
  • Have developed an understanding of the psychosocial impact of cancer (including rare and less common cancers) on women living with these cancers. Appreciate the similarities and differences experienced by them and women with breast and gynaecological cancers
  • Have developed a familiarity with some of the non-government organisations (NGOs) that provide services for people with cancer
  • Have investigated and developed an understanding of the possible areas to provide support for women with stomas, prostheses and nutritional issues because of their cancer diagnosis or treatment.

Learning objectives Day 3

At the completion of Day 3, participants will:

  • Have considered and appreciate the some of the other personal and social issues affecting women with other cancers
  • Have developed an understanding of the stigma and discrimination experienced by women with other cancers and ways to support them
  • Have considered concerns and issues for Peer Support Volunteers related to the expansion of services to women with all cancers
  • Have suggested and discussed possible solutions to these matters and contributed to a plan.
