In the absence of NHMRC clinical practice guidelines for the management of ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), this literature review sets out the levels of evidence for using radiotherapy, mastectomy, lumpectomy and Tamoxifen to reduce the risk of: DCIS local recurrence, invasive local recurrence, metastatic disease, and death from breast cancer.
