Here's  what went into our  new website

By Counterpart Women supporting women with cancer 9 November 2021

We are a service of  Women's Health Victoria.

Counterpart is supported by the Victorian Government.

Since 2003, we have been connecting, supporting  and informing women with breast or a gynaecological cancer to live well.

This story features elements from an artwork by Aboriginal artist Madison Connors, a Yorta Yorta (Wolithica), Dja Dja Wurrung, Gamilaroi woman from North East Victoria.

Women's Health Victoria acknowledges and pays our respects to the Traditional Custodians of the land our offices are situated on, the peoples of the Kulin Nation. As a statewide service, we also acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters across Victoria. We pay our respects to them, their cultures and their Elders past and present.

More people than ever  are using the Counterpart website.

In the 8 years since our website was built, we have:

● developed new   programs

● created new online    resources

● outgrown our website’s    old structure.

There is a lot of great information on the Counterpart website, including recorded webinars with a range of health professionals, and the Counterpart Navigator.

With our new website, all this is much easier to find.

conversations

We kicked off the process by listening to what women wanted from our website.

conversations

We ran focus groups with women who have used the service, talked to our volunteers and discussed with the Counterpart Advisory Group.

6

rounds of testing

We used different methods to test the topics and structure  of our website.

6

rounds of testing

We tested with a whole range of different people involved with our service.

And a bunch of people who aren’t.

The last 18 months haven’t been easy for anyone.

COVID tests

Even web-based projects are tricky when you can’t meet with your teammates, web developers and people who use your website.

We are a small, not-for-profit service. When you don’t have a big web design budget, you have to rely on the ingenuity of your staff.

And our staff rely on coffee.

There are almost too many people to thank, but we'll give it a go..
