Yoga4Cancer
Yoga4Cancer classes we use a lot of props to ensure that the yoga practice is safe and accessible. However, if you don’t have yoga props we can use alternatives from our homes, as noted below:
- a yoga mat- don’t worry if you don’t have this for the first class.
- yoga blocks- alternatives include rolls of paper towels, or stacks of old DVDs sello-taped together to make blocks!
- a chair
- a blanket- any home blanket is great.
- a bolster- an alternative is a thick bed quilt folded, or a couch or chair cushion.
- a strap- a belt, scarf or exercise band.
Claire has had a life-long interest in health and well-being and is a degree qualified nutritionist and registered yoga teacher. Claire worked for many years in the corporate world before a life changing diagnosis of breast cancer in 2017 prompted her to change course in her career to support people impacted by cancer. Modern day stressors affect our quality of life and can lead to serious chronic disease, but practising yoga helps to reduce stress and anxiety and improve our sense of well being. Yoga is not about being super flexible but rather is about the connection between mind, body and spirit and when these are aligned, that’s when the magic happens.
Audience: Any woman who has had (recently or in the past) a cancer diagnosis. Family/ partners/ support people of women with a cancer diagnosis are also welcome to attend.
