Special collections

books about cancer

Visit our Resource Centre during open hours to browse our special collections. You are also welcome to contact us and we can post books and pamphlets to you, free of charge, if you are a woman affected by cancer and you are located in Victoria.

Although we no longer have a large library of books at Counterpart, we can direct you to suitable resources held by other Victorian libraries.

We have a large collection of pamphlets and booklets from a range of organisations. These include information on specific cancer-related issues, wellbeing, nutrition, talking to children and teenagers, carers and fertility.
Available in the Resource Centre or contact us for delivery.

Children’s books

It’s a huge challenge for children to understand cancer and how it might affect their family. Picture books can reassure them that they are not the only ones to go through this. Books can also help get them talking and asking questions about anything they’re not sure about.

We can help you find a book to suit your child's age and situation. Loans are available to women in Victoria who have been affected by cancer and will be posted to you free of charge.
Available in the Resource Centre or contact us for delivery.

Cookbooks with ideas to tempt the tastebuds of women who are dealing with changes in taste and appetite during treatment.
Available in the Resource Centre or contact us for delivery.

Bras, breast forms and swimwear

We have a small collection of bras, breast forms and swimwear from a range of suppliers.
If you have had a mastectomy, or are having surgery in the future, this is a great opportunity to have a close look to compare some of the available options and what might suit you best.
