Information Session with Krista Phillips
Cancer, Context and Connection- a conversation about revisiting sexual wellbeing
When completing her degrees in social work and science in the early 1990s, Krista focused many of her electives and projects on sexuality. However, it was not until she reached the age of 50—bringing extensive personal and professional experience—that she chose to pursue further formal study in sexology. In 2022 she completed a Grad Dip in Sexology via Curtin University and in 2024 focused on a Masters of Science in Medicine at Sydney Uni within the psychosexual therapy stream, graduating in June 2025. She is a member of the Society of Australian Sexologists and is working towards her accreditation and accessing supervision from qualified and experienced colleagues-ensuring her knowledge remains both current and enriched by experience.
Krista builds upon her extensive clinical expertise in mental health, chronic disease, and aging, integrating structural and feminist theoretical frameworks. She views sexuality as a complex, evolving concept in both individual and societal contexts. Drawing from her diverse academic background, Krista combines evidence-based practices with a compassionate, person-centered approach. This combination of scholarship and empathy enables her to foster open dialogue, challenge outdated assumptions, and advocate for more inclusive and respectful understandings of human intimacy.
Krista is beginning a private practice in 2026 and serves as coordinator for the Loddon Mallee Cancer and Sexual Wellbeing Community of Practice. She also continues her work as a generalist social worker within a rural health service.
Mindful Activity with Fionna McColl
Active Consciousness Meditation is a journey through the chakras. A meditation journey for mind, body, and spirit. Sitting in circle, the meditation journey begins with rhythmic breathing, focusing inwards on the breath. As we breathe, we flow through the chakras. The powerful guided breath work takes you through clearing energy, emotions and blockages that no longer resonate within the physical body.
