Look Good Feel Better workshop
Counterpart is working with Look Good Feel Better to host a free and practical workshop. Run by volunteer experts, the Look Good Feel Better workshops are non-medical and brand-neutral, covering topics from skincare, cosmetics, and headwear options, through to grooming, fitness, mobility, and mental wellbeing.
In a comfortable and supportive group environment, their dedicated team of volunteers address common concerns and changes to the appearance that result from cancer treatment. They demonstrate a skincare routine to assist with side-effects like dryness and sun sensitivity, provide make-up tips to help correct and conceal redness, sallowness, pigmentation and dark circles, as well as demonstrating techniques for drawing on eyebrows and eyelashes, and offer advice on headwear options, including scarf styling and wig selection.
Each Look Good Feel Better workshop participant receives a Confidence Kit full of skincare and make-up products donated by the cosmetic industry. The products in the Kit are used as tools to practice the techniques being demonstrated throughout the workshop and can then be taken home for continued use.
Participants also benefit from the opportunity to meet others in a similar situation. Friendships and support networks are formed during the workshops that can provide comfort while navigating the diagnosis and treatment experience.
Look Good Feel Better is a global initiative. In Australia, the program is run by The Cancer Patients Foundation: a not-for-profit organisation unaffiliated with any other cancer charity.
Audience: Any woman who has had (recently or in the past) a cancer diagnosis.
