Radiotherapy

Many people diagnosed with cancer will be treated with radiotherapy which uses high energy radiation to shrink tumours and kill cancer cells. Dr Mario Guerrieri is a Radiation Oncologist providing inpatient care at the Western Private, Ringwood Private, and Freemasons Hospitals. Dr Guerrieri discusses the different techniques used to deliver radiotherapy (external beam and internal radiotherapy or brachytherapy), the benefits and side effects, as well as the current and emerging trends for its application in the treatment of cancer.
