Would you like to support other women affected by cancer?
Our Peer Support Volunteers:
- lend a listening ear
- provide emotional and practical support
- help others affected by cancer.
What’s involved?
- Submit an expression of interest form and we will contact you when we have an intake coming up.
- Comprehensive Peer Support Volunteer training provided:
- In-person and online
- Includes a series of online learning modules, interactive workshops and a comprehensive induction day.
- Practical support and mentoring from experienced Peer Support Volunteers in our Resource Centre, throughout training.
- Commitment – volunteer for at least 1 x 5 hour shift each month (either from home or in our Resource Centre) on a Monday, Wednesday or Thursday.
- Ongoing training days – these are held on a Tuesday, around three times a year.
- All volunteers will require a Police Check and a current Working with Children check (at no cost to volunteers).
Requirements
- You have had a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Ideally it has been at least one year since you were first diagnosed with cancer.
- You have a good understanding of written and spoken English.
- You are aged between 18 and 80.
